Worship

Light and Life gathers every Sunday morning at 10:15 to participate in congregational worship. Our goal is not to align with any category or movement, but to faithfully worship God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that God has given the Church all the necessary resources to worship rightly. And so as we gather together, we believe our ultimate purpose is the glorification of God and the sanctification of humanity. It’s not all about us – not how we feel or what we prefer. But right worship does do something to us. And that something is transformation. This happens primarily in the proclamation of the Word and at the Lord’s Table. Here, we meet Christ and are nourished and strengthened to be the people God has called us to be.

What else makes us unique?  Great question!  As we sing praise to god, we may use the words of the Psalmist or the words of Charles Wesley or the words of Charlie Hall.  Our service of gathered worship is not something you come and watch.  The congregation is very involved in every aspect of the service – we seek to be an “every member functioning” church.  The sermons are conversational and interactive.  The role of “preacher” is shared by our pastoral staff and gifted members – not just one person. This has enriched us greatly, as God has used our different stories and voices to reveal His faithfulness, while calling us to further discipleship.

We are kid friendly.  Children remain with us during the entire gathered worship time so that we may disciple them in the work of worship and they may teach us what it means to receive the kingdom of God.  Outbursts are expected.  Questions are encouraged.  Some children sit in the front row to keep the preachers on their toes.  Others use their liturgy boxes to worship God as children.  But no one is asked to leave.

We share in communion weekly as an act of remembrance, celebration, and anticipation as we proclaim the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
